嘉宾介绍：

Daniel Hirst is a linguist and phonetician, who lives andworks in the South of France. He has been working in the field of speechprosody and phonology for over forty years.

After his retirement in 2011, he became Emeritus ResearchDirector in the Laboratoire Parole etLangage.He was also Lecture Professor atTongji University, Shanghai, China, from April 2012 until October2014.

Daniel Hirst has published numerous articles in severalmajor journals and has contributed chapters to several internationalcollaborative volumes. He was responsible for editing a major study oftheintonation of languages of the world to which he contributed the chapter onBritish English and anintroduction in which he proposed a new internationaltranscription system for intonation (INTSINT).

He has been involved in a number of international actions inthe area of speech prosody and organised the first International Conference onSpeech Prosody: Speech Prosody 2002, Aix en Provence, France, whichhe chaired.Speech Prosody has now become a regular bi-annual conference with meetings inNara,Japan 2004; Dresden, Germany 2006; Campinas, Brazil 2008, Chicago, USA2010, Shanghai, China2012, Dublin, Ireland in 2014. The next conference will beheld in Boston, USA in 2016.
